Venue

The conference will take place at the University of London’s central Bloomsbury campus, in the Russell Square area of central London.

The conference venue will be Birkbeck, University of London, Malet Street, Bloomsbury, London WC1E 7HX, or one of the neighbouring University of London buildings in the immediate area. The final building(s) and rooms will be confirmed closer to the event and provided in the final conference programme.

Delegates wishing to book accommodation can use Russell Square and Birkbeck, University of London as reference points when searching for nearby hotels, as the conference venue will be within easy walking distance of both.

Getting to the Conference

The University of London’s central Bloomsbury campus is well served by public transport and is within walking distance of several London Underground and mainline railway stations.

Nearby Underground stations include:

  • Russell Square – Piccadilly Line
  • Euston Square – Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines
  • Goodge Street – Northern Line
  • Tottenham Court Road – Central and Elizabeth lines

Euston, King’s Cross and St Pancras International railway stations are also within walking distance of the University of London’s central Bloomsbury campus.

Travelling from London Airports

London is served by several international airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, London City, Luton and Stansted.

Heathrow Airport

The Piccadilly Line provides a direct Underground service from Heathrow Airport to Russell Square, making Heathrow particularly convenient for reaching the conference area. The Elizabeth line also provides a fast connection from Heathrow into central London.

Direct rail services operate between Gatwick Airport and central London, including services to St Pancras International.

London City Airport is connected to central London by the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), with connections to the London Underground network.

Luton Airport

The Luton DART connects the airport terminal with Luton Airport Parkway station, from where direct rail services operate to St Pancras International.

Stansted Airport

The Stansted Express provides direct rail services between Stansted Airport and London Liverpool Street, with onward connections to the conference area.

Driving

Delegates are strongly encouraged to use public transport when travelling to the conference.

The conference is being held in central London, where traffic can be busy and parking is limited. Charges and restrictions may also apply to vehicles entering or travelling within central London.

Parking

There is no dedicated conference parking. Commercial car parks are available in central London, although availability and charges vary.

Accommodation

The conference is being held at the University of London’s central Bloomsbury campus, approximately a 2–3 minute walk from Russell Square. This area offers a wide range of accommodation, from luxury and business hotels to more affordable hotels, hostels, apartments and university accommodation.

Delegates may wish to look for accommodation in Bloomsbury, Russell Square, Euston, King’s Cross or the surrounding central London area, all of which provide convenient access to the conference venues.

Delegates are advised to book accommodation early, as London is a popular destination and availability and prices can vary considerably.

Food & Drink

There is a wide range of restaurants, cafés and places for refreshments within walking distance of the conference venues.

Delegates may particularly wish to visit The Brunswick Centre, located outside Russell Square Underground station and within easy walking distance of the University of London’s central Bloomsbury campus. The centre offers a wide range of restaurants, cafés and other food and drink options.
