WTC 2027 Launches the Ouroboros Lecture
World Tinnitus Congress Announces the Ouroboros Lecture: A New Flagship Keynote Bridging Mechanism and Meaning
The organisers of the 4th World Tinnitus Congress (WTC 2027) are pleased to announce the launch of the Ouroboros Lecture, a new flagship keynote that will anchor the congress with a bold and reflective exploration of tinnitus as both a biological and human phenomenon.
Named after the ancient symbol of the serpent consuming its own tail, the Ouroboros Lecture embodies the recursive journey from neural mechanisms to personal meaning in tinnitus and sound perception. This keynote will be delivered by a world-renowned thought leader whose work bridges science, care, and lived experience.
“The Ouroboros Lecture invites us to reflect on what tinnitus truly means—not just in the brain, but in the life of the person experiencing it,” said Dr Hashir Aazh, President of WTC 2027. “It symbolises our congress theme: From Mechanism to Meaning.” In Jungian psychology, the Ouroboros represents the integration of opposites and the cycle of transformation—an apt metaphor for the interplay between biological mechanisms and lived experience in tinnitus. The lecture will explore how these dimensions are not separate but continuously shape one another, forming a feedback loop essential to understanding and rethinking care.
The lecture will form part of a broader plenary programme that includes new and historic lectures celebrating excellence across the field.
