Tinnitus Clinical and Research Network Africa (TCRN-Africa) Launches to Strengthen Continental Collaboration
The Tinnitus Clinical and Research Network Africa (TCRN-Africa) has been established to bring together clinicians, researchers, academic institutions, and other stakeholders across Africa to advance tinnitus care, education, and research. As part of the global Tinnitus Clinical and Research Network (TCRN), the initiative aims to promote multicentre clinical and research collaborations, support evidence-based practice, strengthen professional education, and generate high-quality African data to address the unique challenges and opportunities within the continent.
Working in collaboration with World Tinnitus Congress (WTC) and regional coordinators, TCRN-Africa will provide a sustainable platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building. The network’s initial priorities include building a collaborative community of professionals with an interest in tinnitus, mapping tinnitus services, research activity, and available resources across African countries, organising educational webinars, workshops, and professional development initiatives, facilitating multicentre clinical and research collaborations through shared research protocols and responsible data sharing, supporting the development of evidence-based tinnitus care across the continent, and increasing Africa’s contribution to global tinnitus research, innovation, and international scientific collaboration.
By fostering partnerships across countries and institutions, TCRN-Africa seeks to ensure that Africa plays a leading role in shaping the future of tinnitus research while improving the quality of care for people living with tinnitus both across the continent and worldwide.
Audiologists, hearing healthcare professionals, otorhinolaryngologists (ENT specialists), mental health professionals, and other health and social care professionals with an interest in supporting people with tinnitus in Africa are warmly invited to join TCRN-Africa.
