Professor Brian C. J. Moore Awarded Marilyn Penner Distinguished Lecture at WTC/ITS 2027

📣 Press Release

We are honoured to announce that Professor Brian C. J. Moore has been awarded the Marilyn Penner Distinguished Lecture on Psychoacoustics of Tinnitus at the 4th World Tinnitus Congress (WTC) and 15th International Tinnitus Seminar (ITS), to be held in London in 2027.

The Marilyn Penner Lecture recognises pioneering scientific contributions that deepen our understanding of the sensory, acoustic, and perceptual dimensions of tinnitus. It is named in honour of Marilyn J. Penner, whose psychoacoustic studies laid the foundation for behavioural approaches to tinnitus measurement and characterisation. The lecture invites reflection on the relationship between auditory function and subjective experience, and encourages methodological innovation in measuring pitch, loudness, and maskability.

Professor Moore has been a towering figure in the field of auditory perception for over four decades. His groundbreaking research on loudness perception, auditory filters, and hearing aid optimisation has shaped not only academic understanding but also clinical approaches to tinnitus and hyperacusis. His work embodies the spirit of this distinguished lecture—bridging psychoacoustic theory with practical relevance and person-centred care.

The World Tinnitus Congress & International Tinnitus Seminar 2027 is proud to honour Professor Moore’s enduring contributions with this prestigious keynote lecture. His insights will set the tone for critical discussion and future research directions in the psychoacoustics of tinnitus.
